Report: Organ Donation Fortnight 2026 and Donor Felicitation Ceremony
14 July – 1 August 2026 | Theme: Angdaan – Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyaan
Organ Retrieval Banking Organization (ORBO), AIIMS’ nodal facility for deceased donation, observed Indian Organ Donation Day 2026 by organising a two-week fortnight of outreach and training activities, running from 14 July to 1 August 2026 under the theme “Angdaan – Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyaan.” The fortnight combined school-level awareness sessions along with competitions like Pebble painting, poster and campaign design, a mandatory training programme for resident doctors, staff engagement events, and creative contribution drives, and closed with a felicitation ceremony held on 1 August 2026 to honour 38 donor families.
The fortnight covered ten scheduled activities across five schools and multiple AIIMS venues, mixing awareness-building with staff participation events:

Alongside the scheduled events, ORBO ran a creative contribution drive open to AIIMS staff, inviting entries across five formats: poetry on the theme of organ donation, short audio/video messages promoting organ and tissue donation, short written reflections on “What Organ Donation Means to Me,” paintings and artwork promoting organ donation, and organ and tissue donation pledging drives within departments.
The ceremony was held at the Dr. Ramalingaswami Board Room, AIIMS New Delhi, and brought together donor families, transplant recipients, transplant experts, government and police officials, and civil society partners. It was presided over by Chief Guest Prof. Nikhil Tandon, Director, AIIMS New Delhi, with Dr. Radhika Tandon, Dean (Research), and Sh. Anshul Mishra, IAS, Additional Director, attending as Guests of Honour.
Representatives of Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti, Radha Soami Satsang Beas, Laxmi Narayan Trust, and Bhor Living Humanly Foundation attended, along with senior AIIMS faculty and office-bearers of AIIMS associations.
ORBO extended its gratitude to all 38 donor families for their generosity and strength.
